Comprehensive Eye Exams
At Weston Town Center Optometry our patients love our hi-tech, thorough eye exams. We employ the latest in advanced instrumentation. Technology improves the detection and treatment of diseases, allowing the Doctors to see their patients in a relaxed atmosphere.
Contact Lenses
Contact lenses are an important part of almost any modern optometric practice. We fit all types of contact lenses, however we specialize in advanced and difficult contact lenses such contacts for people that have been referred to us because they were unsuccessful with refractive surgery, have keratoconus, dry eyes, require bifocal contact lenses or have encountered problems with contact lenses. We have especially found fitting children with contact lenses to be very rewarding. Studies have shown that contact lenses can improve a child's sense of self worth and orthokeratology lenses can prevent the progression of nearsightedness.
Multifocal Contact Lenses
Bifocal contact lenses offer a great lifestyle option for those over 40. Everyone hears about the need for reading glasses when the reach 40, but it doesn't mean you need to use cheaters or give up contact lenses altogether. As little as 10 years ago the success with soft, bifocal contact lenses was about 40%. Now we have many more bifocal contact lens options available and over 80% of our patients are happy with their bifocal contact lenses.
OrthoKeratology
Also known as Ortho-K, Corneal Molding is a technique where gas permeable contact lenses are used to reshape the cornea, allowing a person to see well without correction. We custom design all of our Ortho-K contact lenses with corneal topographer and computer aided design software. We offer free consultations to see if you are a candidate. Studies have shown that orthokeratology lenses can prevent the progression of nearsightedness.
Keratoconus
We utilize the latest technology in treating patients with keratoconus. Many new modalities are now available to us. Treatments range from the latest in soft/gas permeable hybrid contact lenses (such as the Synergeyes Lens), providing the optics and vision of a gas permeable lens to the comfort of a soft lens, to more traditional gas permeable or soft contact lenses.
LASIK Surgery
Laser Assisted in-Situ Keratomileusis is the most popular method of refractive surgery. It is a quantum leap improvement over the old method called (RK) Radial Keratotomy. RK was followed by (PRK) Photo Refractive Keratectomy. At Weston Town Center Optometry we partner with our patients in finding the best procedure (whether it is LASIK, PRK, 30 day extended wear contacts or clear lens extraction to name just a few of the options available) and the best surgeon for their situation and give our patients an unbiased opinion on the best procedure for them. We provide pre and post-operative care for our patients.
Optomap
Patients love the Optomap. Most patients do not like to be dilated. The Optomap allows your eye doctor to view approximately 80% of the back of your eye. All patients can benefit from the images provided by the Optomap. The Optomap is not a replacement for dilation, however many patients do not wish to be dilated and the Optomap provides a good alternative and allows us to provide superior patient care.
Pink or Red Eyes
Pink eye is most often the result of a viral infection in the eye, however pink eye can have numerous causes such as bacteria, allergies, and foreign objects in the eye. We offer same day visits for patients with pink, red or painful eyes.
Post Refractive Surgery Contacts
Patients often seek us out to help them with complications caused by refractive surgery such as LASIK, PRK or RK. Some patients are unable to attain 20/20 vision after surgery even though they could prior to surgery. These patients will often require special contact lenses to attain functional vision after refractive surgery. We will custom design a contact lens, using computer aided design software, to improve their visual acuity.
Dry Eye Syndrome
With the increased use of computers, tablets, and smartphones, many patients find that their eyes are uncomfortable or burn. LASIK is another frequent cause for patients with dry eyes. Systemic problems such as Sjogren's syndrome can also lead to dry eyes. We have helped many patients improve their ocular comfort with the numerous advances available for patients with dry eyes. Relief is just a phone call away.
Computer Vision Syndrome
Patients often ask us if computers are bad for our eyes. No, computers are not inherently bad for our eyes, however if you have problems with your eyes computer use will often make the issue more apparent. In today's business environment computer use is almost a necessity. We provide solutions for our patients that allow them to use a computer comfortably, allowing them to be more productive.
